Animal Control
The City of Kerens Police Department is responsible for animal control in the City.
Any violation of the Animal Control Ordinance can result in a fine of up to $1,000.00.
Registration:
- No owner shall have within the city any dog or cat 3 months of age or older unless such dog or cat is currently registered with the City of Kerens.
- A current metal registration tag issued by the City of Kerens must be worn by the dog or cat at all times when not confined to the owner’s premises.
- No dog or cat shall be registered until it has a current rabies vaccination.
To register your pet, bring proof of rabies vaccination and a fee of $3.00 per animal to Kerens City Hall.
Animals at Large:
It is unlawful for an owner of any animal to allow or permit an animal to run at large. Animals running at large may be impounded.
Livestock and Fowl:
It is unlawful for any person to have livestock or fowl of any kind within any area not zoned Agricultural within the city limits for longer than 72 hours without a permit.
